I heard a lot of questions about clips since I opened my course, Fit to Freelance, so I addressed a few in my most recent Q&A (I post a weekly writing Q&A to my Instagram stories and save all Q&A’s on my story highlights) and I thought the topic would make a great blog post too.
Here are three helpful tips when it comes to clips:
-
Attached 3-5 clips
(If you have that many). If you’re just starting out and don’t yet have 3, no big deal. Include what you have or write a relevant blog post to use as a clip.
-
Get as relevant as possible.
You don’t write about a specific topic until you do. Huh?! For example, I hadn’t yet written about running with a jogging stroller when I pitched that topic for the first time. So I included clips that were as relevant as possible which, in that case, meant articles about prenatal yoga, running and group fitness.
-
Use links.
Ideally, send your clips as individual links. PDF’s are another option but not ideal since some editors won’t open attachments. You can store clips on a free blog or Google drive to get them online so that you’ll have a link for each!
Happy writing!
